Sustainability
To create a sustainable campus at Carmel Catholic High School in the spirit of the founding orders, the Carmelites and the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and in the spirit of the Laudato Si papal encyclical.
In 1987, the United Nations defined sustainability as “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” This is the most commonly used definition of sustainability.
At Carmel, the focus of our sustainability work is around the following:
- Energy
- Waste
- Transportation
- Occupant experience
- Greenspace
We are currently in the process of developing metrics and collecting data. More to come soon!
